We at Mainter are proud to sponsor Alva Frohm, a 16-year-old alpine skier from Lycksele who took the next step in her career last fall when she started at the ski academy in Tärnaby. With clear goals, strong drive and a genuine love for the sport, Alva is now wholeheartedly committed to establishing herself among Sweden’s top alpine skiers.
Alva competes for Lycksele IF Alpina and already has several impressive achievements behind her. Last season, she won gold in slalom and silver in giant slalom at the Swedish Youth Championships. She was also selected to represent Sweden in the international Ingemar Trophy, where she finished as the overall winner. However, the transition to upper secondary level brings entirely new challenges:
– I'm now competing at FIS level against everything from juniors to national team skiers. It's a big step – physically, mentally and financially. But I really enjoy the ski school and think it's incredibly fun to train and develop every day, says Alva.
Balancing Studies and Elite Sports
Training weeks in Tärnaby are intense. Each week, she combines slope training, conditioning sessions, and gym workouts with studies. She lives on her own in an apartment, takes care of her equipment, and plans her days to manage both school and sports.
– Living on my own requires a lot of responsibility, but it also feels great to fully commit to this. The highlight of every day is getting to ski – it’s the speed, the challenge, and the sense of community with the other skiers that drive me, she says.
Her goals are clear: in the short term, it's about lowering the points in the FIS system and winning U18 prizes in competitions during the season. In the long term, she aims to make it to the European Cup – and her dream is the World Cup.

Sponsorship That Makes a Difference
Thanks to the support from Mainter and our sister company AM System, Alva has been able to purchase new equipment and participate in more competitions throughout the season, further strengthening her development.
– It means so much. Being able to travel to and compete in more events and training camps, as well as buy more skis and gain experience in different conditions, helps me perform better. I’m incredibly grateful for the support, says Alva.
By supporting young, local talents, we at Mainter want to help dreams grow – both in sports and in life. Alva is a clear example of what happens when passion meets hard work, and we look forward to following her journey toward the top.
